  • Prerequisites: None     (May be completed in one day with prior sailing experience as a "Challenge" Course)
  • General Description:  
    • Students must sail a fixed keel sailboat of at least 20-feet in length in moderate wind and sea conditions.
    • Navigation skills are not required for this course.
  • Course Focus: Sailing theory and terminology, rules of the water ways, boat safety procedures, and knot tying.
  • Additional Information: 
    • This course is taught aboard a sailboat 20 to 30 feet in length.
    • Offered as a private lesson for one or two people. 
    • You will be with the Instructor for one full day or two half days. 
    • At the end of the lesson you will be required to take a written ASA certification test. 
    • Study materials include the ASA Sailing Made Easy textbook and ASA log book. You may order these materials on-line at the ASA Web site. 
    • Upon successful completion, participants will receive a National Safe Boating Certificate approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. 
    • Courses are available 7-days a week throughout the year. 
    • This course may include a slightly different itinerary based on weather conditions and Captain's discretion.
