​ASA 105
  • Prerequisites: None
  • General Description:
    • Students must demonstrate their knowledge of navigational theory, chart symbols, terminology, USCG navigation rules, local rules and regulations, tides and currents, basic radio knowledge, etc.
    • Required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal and inland waters.
  • Course Focus:  Basic navigation tools and technologies for coastal piloting.
  • Additional information:
    • This course is offered as home study or classroom, but can also be done aboard one of our boats for hands on practice and learning as part of our 7-Day Cruise & Learn package.
    • You may order study materials for the course on-line at the ASA Web site.
    • Participants will be required to take a written Coastal Navigation test. Upon successful completion participants will receive a Coastal Navigation Certificate.
    • Classes are held throughout the year.
    • This course may include a slightly different itinerary based on weather conditions and Captain's discretion.
